I have wanted to be in the education field since I was a young child. My dream was and still is to open my own daycare. I believe that in order to cultivate the nurturing and nourishing environment that I want to exude from my daycare, I first, must become an effective and culturally responsive educator. In my efforts to become the educator I aspire to be, I will have to continually practice and implement the standards and descriptors outlined in the Dispositions Survey. It is not enough to just want to be a high-performing educator. I must put in the regular and on-going work to become and maintain the embodiment of that educator. Which is ultimately why I enrolled in the MSED program. Over the course of my teaching career, I have taken several teacher development course for specific content areas, but I felt that I wanted a program that would actually continue to mold me into educator I aspire to be. After, asking around at my school, this program was recommended to me by the academic coach. Once I looked into the program's mission and vision I decided that enrolling into this program would be the first step in the direction I am progressing.
My ultimate personal goal is to exemplify what is means to be an education professional. Doing so, will allow me to be the most impactful and effective teacher that I can be for my students for the duration of my career.

After reading Understanding Teachers’ Perspectives on Professionalism, I believe an education professional must have mastery of the subject knowledge and pedagogical knowledge for what they teach; have a commitment to change and continuous improvement; and realize that teaching and application goes beyond the classroom.
